11/30/2022 0 Comments Boy genius![]() ![]() Personal confession is a trademark of all of their solo work, but as a collective they encompass the universal. There is no discernible front woman the singers trade verses and then come together at unexpected moments to harmonize. This is the driving spirit of boygenius’s self-titled EP, a record that feels more like a mind meld than like a carrousel of songwriters. In the quieter, more insular world of independent music, collaboration is more typically an act of solidarity among artists who share experiences and musical interests. In that realm, which is fuelled by commercial concerns, alliances are often more about reaching new fan bases than about merging kindred spirits or pushing the boundaries of genre. The collaborative impulse is also rampant in the pop world, where the mainstream charts sometimes look like a collection of hastily executed lab experiments, populated by long lists of guest appearances and clashing sensibilities. Boygenius has forebears in country music: the powerhouse trio of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley released their third album as Pistol Annies this month. ![]() The television industry these days is fixated on the hyper-specific voice of the individual auteur, but the world of music has never been so collaborative. ![]() When they set out to name their group, and the album they recorded during four days in Los Angeles earlier this year, they couldn’t shake the boygenius moniker. The phrase was a way to needle their colleagues, and also to preëmptively deflate any self-seriousness regarding their work. (In her most popular song, a wry kiss-off called “Motion Sickness,” she asks a former suitor, “Hey, why do you sing with an English accent? I guess it’s too late to change it now.”) Dacus has an all-male backup band, and Baker got her start as the front woman of a punk-leaning (and otherwise male) band called Forrister. ![]() Bridgers has collaborated with Conor Oberst, the Bright Eyes front man, and she dated the indie-rock mainstay Ryan Adams, who is twenty years her senior. During the process, the term “boy genius”-a half-derisive, half-aspirational expression used to describe the preternatural confidence they’d observed in their male peers-was thrown around as a joke. Earlier this year, they decided to formalize this remote kinship in the recording studio. Instead, they started group texts, e-mail threads, and, eventually, a shared online document where they riffed on their favorite authors, scribbled out ideas for music, and traded notes about negotiations with the indie labels that were courting them. In another time, the three women might have started noodling around in someone’s basement and formed a band. They are dutiful about guitar-rock songwriting without being explicitly reverential to a particular era. But the three share indisputable similarities: they approach indie rock from a deliberate and plaintive perspective that skews more toward emo, folk, and blues than toward punk, and they write the kind of lyrics that warrant close reading. (One of her best songs, “Funeral,” details the experience of singing at the funeral of a boy who died of a heroin overdose.) Dacus has a deep, rich voice and makes more conventional rock songs, which she sings from a calm remove. Bridgers, a Los Angeles native who worshipped Elliott Smith and starred in an Apple commercial at the age of twenty-one, makes folksy, acoustic rock songs whose wispiness cleverly masks their morbid and searing lyrics. Each artist had crafted a distinct sound: Baker, a recovered opioid addict from Memphis, whose musical upbringing was in the Christian church, makes spare and swelling music that draws from the melodies and the ritualized melancholy of the emo world. They’d proved themselves to be careful and accomplished writers and performers, and had begun to attract attention from critics and labels alike. In 2016, the singer-songwriters Julien Baker, Lucy Dacus, and Phoebe Bridgers, who were all in their early twenties, were living parallel lives. ![]()

![]() Using a photodiode we can build a basic automatic street lamp which glows when the sunlight intensity decreases. Check here the working of Photodiode with IR sensor. So, in this way, a photodiode can be used to sense the light raysand maintain the current through the circuit. A photodiode is constructed such that light rays should fall on the PN junction which makes the leakage current increase based on the intensity of the light that we have applied. As we know a PN junction allows small leakage currents when it is reverse biased so, this property is used to detect the light rays. Its construction is similar to the normal PN junction diode but the working principle differs from it. It is a semiconductor device which is used to detect the light rays and mostly used as IR Receiver. The pair of IR LED and photodiode is called IR Sensor. The rays generated by an infrared LED can be sensed by Photodiode explained below. The range of these frequencies are greater than the microwave frequencies (i.e. Now let us see the working principle of these different types of sensors and where it can be seen in our day to day life or its application. As said earlier in order to make them work proper voltage should be applied based on their specifications. We need to select the desired sensor based on our project or application. Let us see the various different types of sensors that are available in the market and discuss their functionality, working, applications etc. Various sensors have different operating ranges which should be considered while working with it else the sensor may get damaged permanently. So, sufficient input voltage should be applied to it. Most of the sensors can’t work independently. But the signal conditioning may not be necessary for all the sensors like photodiode, LDR etc. So, a signal conditioning unit (an amplifier) is used to increase the signal strength. ![]() For example, if we consider a microphone it detects the audio signal and converts to the output voltage (is in terms of millivolts) which becomes hard to drive an output circuit. ![]() In signal conditioning unit, the output of the sensor may be amplified, filtered or modified to the desired output voltage. ![]() In those cases, a signal conditioning unit is used in order to maintain sensor’s output voltage levels in the desired range with respect to the end device that we use. In few cases, a sensor alone may not be sufficient to analyze the obtained signal. The sensor can be defined as a device which can be used to sense/detect the physical quantity like force, pressure, strain, light etc and then convert it into desired output like the electrical signal to measure the applied physical quantity. These sensor acts as eyes, ears, nose of any electrical equipment which senses the parameters in outside world and give readings to devices or Microcontroller. Even the mobiles or smartphones which we daily use will have some sensors like hall sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, touch screen, microphone etc. To design automated devices first we need to know about the sensors, these are the modules/devices which are helpful in making things done without human intervention. Most of the things that we use now can be automated. ![]() 11/27/2022 0 Comments Reikan focal pro 2 torrent![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I sent three MORE emails to them with no response. Wha? Since version 1.8, they stopped supporting lenses 500mm or longer!!! When I run the latest version with my 500mm lens, I get a message that tells me I must upgrade to their top of the line Pro version for lenses this size!!! This will cost me about $40 more. I am getting pretty disappointed with Reikan. Update S– Latest Version of FoCal 1.9 and I’m not happy!!! See bottom where I posted the differing MFA values for each version and my comments. I must say that I am concerned about the stability of the FoCal product as the results I obtained from each version were different despite being only about 3 weeks apart, and that is assuming time is a relevant factor for focus adjustment. I edited my text below to reflect my experience with the 1.7 version. and this latest version behaves differently and is much less finicky than the 1.6 version. I just downloaded and tested the latest version of Focal, 1.7. But I can do the Moiré Maximization technique faster and with the same results (and it is free!). You plug your camera into your computer via a USB cable, set up their target, and let her rip….click click beep click…… and after a few minutes, your camera’s MFA is reprogrammed! Woo Hoo! Why don’t I make this my number one recommendation? Well it costs money (get the automated version… trust me on this one), and it was time consuming and finicky to set up although it does work. Did I say it is FREE? Update: I just created a new, free tool TTP Align Ruler that may, just may, be easier than this moire method, just click here.įor a totally automated experience, try Reikan’s FoCal tool. First try the Moiré Maximization method as it is the fasted, easiest, and best way to set MFA and I explain it in more detail below. Both of which I will describe in more detail below. There are a few ways of setting MFA focus and I recommend using the Moiré Maximization method or a Total Automated Adjustment tool such as the FoCal product. The camera and body is a focusing system, and must be tuned together. If they do, they will need your camera body along with each lens to do the tuning. They may take your body and all of your lenses and adjust them in their lab, as will Canon. Try calling your manufacturer’s customer service line for their advice. You can use the moiré method below to see if your camera is focusing properly with each of your lenses, but if one is out, there is little you can do about it. ![]() Now was it the lens or the body that was at fault? I don’t know but it most likely was this particular combination that resulted in less-than-stellar performance. This experience drove me to discover MFA and MFA made this lens perfect. Out of the box, my heart sunk when I saw the soft images coming from this very expensive lens. I had a few lenses that were noticeably out of focus and one that was very much out is one of Canon’s highest rated “L” lenses. Not all camera bodies have this feature but they all should. Unless of course the manufacturers improved their quality assurance processes and manufacturing specs tight enough so that it no longer matters. After owning a few different bodies, using bunch of different lenses, and shooting for a few years, I will never buy a camera without this MFA capability. yes even this is not perfect but it does work and works very well. This MFA system allows you to adjust for each lens you own thus tuning each one to your body perfectly…. Well the camera manufactures put a cool feature in into some of their camera bodies that Canon calls Micro Focus Adjustment (MFA) to adjust for these variances. In other words, each of the many pieces in your camera involved in focusing vary ever so slightly from one another and when put together as a system, the variances in total may result in less than perfect focusing. This is most likely due to manufacturing tolerances not being as tight as they should be. Sorry, this is gonna hurt.Īs amazing as our auto focus systems are, they can be slightly off. Grab some beer, turn on some tunes (I recommend Jazz/Samba such as Stan Getz), and block out some time. Update: See my new piece on MFA using my new, FREE TTP Align Ruler, just click here! The parody is all that One Punch Man seemed to offer, and if you don't like that, than you definitely won't like the show. When a comedy starts to get unappealing, there isn't much that can save that. The problem of One Punch Man getting repetitive may seem like a small thing, but in fact, it really isn't. If you really look at it, it was just Saitama getting beaten up with a variety of attacks. And yes, the final episodes did stray away from that, but even that was just a elongated scene of what was soon going to happen. After seeing a couple of episodes, you know what to expect from it, which really damaged the comedy effect. Because of this, as the series went on, the joke lost its charm as it wasn't special anymore. You can't top off something so exaggerated, similar to how you can't top off beating an enemy with a single punch. With the already ridiculous start of the series, it makes it hard to enjoy the jokes when they are virtually indistinguishable. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily, but there are problems with that. Rather than making fun of its tropes directly, One Punch Man parodies it instead by over-exaggerating them to the point where it becomes funny. If you are like me, and expected One Punch Man to be a satire, then you will be disappointed. In all honesty, how many shows can you say do that? But does this fulfill the hype, and is this the savior of anime? One Punch Man has got to be one of the most commonly talked about show I've seen this year, even impacting the smash community when one of the smash player's shaved their beard and started using Ryu. But anyways, let's get on with this review. Or maybe you still won't do that, but you'll at least know why some people might like sticking hotdogs up their ass. But I'm hoping that maybe next time you go to the grill, you can ponder on what you're going to do with that hotdog. For all you know, you might just stumble a 4 paragraph post by me describing how shoving hotdogs up your ass is actually a good thing. I would hate it if someone didn't provide both sides to the argument for my favorite show, but keep in mind that I am not authoritative force, and I cannot dictate how or what you should ![]() And most of you might get upset over that fact, and even start to hate me for it too. I'm not saying this is going to be a completely balanced review. Something that can make or break this show to several of its viewers. Going back to One Punch Man, I really thought of something. And thus begins the story of One Punch Man, an action-comedy that follows an eccentric individual who longs to fight strong enemies that can hopefully give him the excitement he once felt and just maybe, he'll become popular in the process. ![]() Genos proposes that the two join the Hero Association in order to become certified heroes that will be recognized for their positive contributions to society, and Saitama, shocked that no one knows who he is, quickly agrees. This all changes with the arrival of Genos, a 19-year-old cyborg, who wishes to be Saitama's disciple after seeing what he is capable of. In fact, all it takes to defeat evildoers with just one punch has led to an unexpected problem-he is no longer able to enjoy the thrill of battling and has become quite bored. Now, Saitama is incredibly powerful, so much so that no enemy is able to defeat him in battle. In order to pursue his childhood dream, he trained relentlessly for three years-and lost all of his hair in the process. 11/19/2022 0 Comments Law and order svu season 6 ep12![]() ![]() So the writers sort of painted themselves in a corner with this one. Of course, the only member of the Rangers we saw besides Captain Williams herself was her commanding officer, and it would have been equally cliche for him to be going around sexually assaulting the women under his command. In this case, it's doubly disappointing because there are so many issues around rape in the military that just weren't addressed. SVU is generally better than this, giving viewers insights into the causes and conequences of sexual assault rather than conforming to stereotypes. Not only is it cliche for a jilted lover to turn into a rapist, but it also conflates rape - which is a crime of power - with sexual desire. ![]() I'm not a fan of those kinds of stories to begin with. Instead of delving into the issue of sexual assault in the military, SVU chose to give viewers a run-of-the-mill rejected lover loses control type of story. That's one of the reasons I'm so disappointed that it turned out that Williams' ex-fiance was the culprit. In the past few years, there have been more and more reports of sexual assault within the military, so exploring how one such soldier deals with it, along with the culture of silence around it, was potentially powerful. The question of how female soldiers deal with sexual assault is an important and interesting one. Was he a Ranger too who felt he had to give her respect even though he thought she was anything but respectable? Or was that just a random plot point so that viewers could think for a minute that he raped Williams and then realized he didn't?Īll of these unanswered questions weakened what could have been one of the strongest episodes of the season. I'm not sure why he shook hands with Williams, who he clearly didn't respect at all. Top suspect Gary Cook also seemed a bit like a token misogynist here. Perhaps she was meant for nobler purposes.Ĭook: It's been that way for hundreds of years. Like, perhaps it is not in God's plan for a woman to be boxing in a warehouse at 4 in the morning. It seemed really pointless to even mention that Fin was a Ranger too if it was going to be meaningless.Ĭook: Will you take the blue pill of political correctness or the red pill?Ĭook: Truth. ![]() None of that was explored, and that's a shame, because there was so much potential here that wasn't used. He might have been a better person to forge a connection with Williams than Olivia, since he had been in the Rangers and she hadn't. He might have felt protective of the Rangers or understanding of the commanding officer's attitude. There might have been attitudes or behavior towards women in his unit that he felt bad about now that he saw this woman had been raped. I'd have loved to know how Fin felt about this whole thing. That detail of his backstory didn't really play into anything, other than a 30 second conversation in which he tried to convince Williams to stay in the hospital by referencing it. I also thought more should have been made out of Fin having been a Ranger too. Some more conflict between the cops and the Army brass would have added to the drama here it also might have been helpful to see Williams interact with others in her unit after the rape.īenson: Don't you find it odd that she didn't even ask us Cook's name? She didn't even want to know if we were going to arrest her?įin: If she asked about her assailant, that would mean admitting that she let it happen. Her commanding officer wanted to keep her name out of the press, but things were surprisingly civil between him and SVU. I was curious as to how much of this came from the culture she was immersed in. Williams clearly was using her position in the Army to hide from the fact that she had been raped in addition to taking an attitude that real soldiers don't get sexually assaulted. And in my experience, that's the only way to get closure.īeth: Soldiers don't need closure. I'm flying out tonight.īenson: I thought you were going to stay two weeks for your mother.īenson: Why don't you take a couple more days? That would allow us to find your assailant and put him behind bars and give you the chance to heal. On at least three separate occasions, she told Olivia that she had allowed herself to be raped and was no longer a role model for young girls.īeth: I've been called back to base. Captain Williams was so convinced that her rape was her fault that it didn't seem like Olivia would ever get through to her. ![]() |
